:: Objectives

The Objectives of STEP Bahamas are:

  1. To raise the public profile of trust and estate work as a profession in its own right.
  2. To increase the profile of STEP and STEP Bahamas worldwide.
  3. To provide a forum for individuals from the legal, accountancy, trust and related professions whose occupation includes the planning, creation, management of and accounting for, trusts and estates.
  4. To discuss aspects of tax, accounting, administration, statute and case law which are of general concern and to highlight the role which The Bahamas plays in international wealth management.
  5. To advance knowledge and learning in respect of trusts, estates and allied subjects; and encourage and promote the study of trusts and estate practice and to educate members of the public including practitioners and students.
  6. To provide a forum, via conferences and meetings, for the discussion and dissemination of relevant information and data to promote a better understanding of the practical aspects of the foregoing.
  7. To undertake research and make suggestions and representations of a technical (strictly non-political) nature as a body and in collaboration with others to governmental and other persuasive bodies to promote a better understanding of the foregoing and to improve the law relation to and practice of trusts and estates.
  8. To maintain requisite standards for practitioners by the way of education and training; and to organize and hold appropriate examinations and issue qualifications.
