The Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners, Bahamas Branch (STEP) formally announces
their launch of its Scholarship Program for Bahamian students enrolling in the STEP
Diploma Program (SDP). The Bahamian Branch of STEP believes that the education of
Bahamian students in the Trust & Estate arena is paramount to develop the
professionalism required to rise above its worldwide competitors, and decided to
formulate a Scholarship Committee to this end.
The scholarship is based on academic merit, employment, field of study and relevant
financial need. The SDP consists of four subjects namely, Trust Creation Law & Practice,
Company Law & Practice, Trust Administration & Accounts, and Trust Investment &
Financial Appraisal. New Courses are commenced at nine-month intervals and as the
Diploma courses are not sequential, they can be studied in any order.
STEP is heavily concerned with the advancement of Bahamians in the ever growing and
challenging trust arena, and with the implementation of the Scholarship Program, we
hope to assist them in achieving their goals. It has evolved that companies involved in the
trust business require the STEP qualification as a pre-requisite for employment, this would
be an excellent opportunity to obtain same.
